Compliance & Risk Management

Our Commitment to You

ReFocus Eye Health is committed to excellent corporate citizenship and best-practice governance.

Overview of Compliance & Risk Management

As a patient-centric specialty physician group, ReFocus Eye Health partners with our affiliated clinicians and community providers to focus on the needs of our patients and to create positive patient experiences. We are committed to delivering high-quality, caring medical services — and to delivering them in line with the highest ethical, business, and legal standards.

Those standards govern every interaction we have: with our patients, with fellow health care providers, with the companies we do business with, with the government entities to whom we report, and with the public and private payers from whom reimbursement for services is sought and received. The legal rules are essential — but we hold ourselves to an even higher ethical standard.

To that end, ReFocus Eye Health has established centralized Corporate Compliance and Risk Management Departments. Our team ensures that ReFocus implements and maintains an effective compliance program built on the seven key elements required by federal guidance and state law:

The Seven Key Elements of Our Compliance & Risk Management Program

Compliance Officer and Board oversight
Regular training of employees
Audits to monitor compliance
Enforcement of standards through well-publicized guidelines
A written Code of Conduct and supporting policies
A process to receive complaints
A process to respond to allegations and remedy problems

Given the complex legal environment in which we operate, ReFocus Eye Health has adopted a comprehensive set of compliance policies and procedures that expand upon and supplement the principles articulated in our Code of Conduct, together with proven risk-management strategies and appropriate insurance coverage.

Our Risk Management Department supports each practice’s mission of promoting education and delivering excellent patient care through a combination of risk identification, mitigation, prevention, and control. Our goal is to provide ethical and timely risk-management resources to our internal customers by continuously evaluating and improving performance.
